Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a cosmetic procedure that surgically improves the shape and volume of the buttocks by using the patient’s natural fat. BBL can help overcome the effects of genetics by reshaping the buttocks and the surrounding areas, giving patients a desirable curvy shape that is often difficult to achieve through diet and exercise alone. Most women experience renewed confidence in themselves and their bodies after Brazilian Butt Lift surgery.

WHAT IS A BBL?

A Brazilian Butt Lift, commonly known as a BBL, uses a patient’s own fat to enhance the shape and volume of the buttocks without implants. Fat is first removed through liposuction, carefully processed, and then strategically transferred to create the desired shape and proportions. Because a BBL combines fat removal with fat transfer, it can improve the entire silhouette. Liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, waist, back, arms or thighs can further define the waist while enhancing the hips and buttocks.
Dr. Susan Yang is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon specializing in BBL and body contouring in the greater Seattle and Bellevue, Washington area. At Bellevue Body Queen, each BBL is customized to the patient’s anatomy, available donor fat, and desired shape. Dr. Yang focuses on creating balanced, natural-looking curves that complement the patient’s individual body proportions.

Schedule your consultation with our Seattle/Bellevue WA leading cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Susan Yang at Bellevue Body Queen to find out how we can reinvent your body with a BBL.

Is BBL Right For Me And What Can It Achieve?

A BBL may be right for patients who want to enhance a flat or smaller buttock, improve projection, fill hip dips, or create better balance between the waist, hips, and buttocks.

Ideal candidates generally:

  • Have enough donor fat available for transfer.
  • Desire more shape, fullness, or projection of the buttocks.
  • Want improved waist-to-hip proportions.
  • Are at a relatively stable weight.
  • Are healthy enough to undergo elective cosmetic surgery.

During your consultation, Dr. Yang will evaluate your anatomy, skin quality, available donor fat, and desired result. She will determine where liposuction can best sculpt the surrounding areas and how fat can be transferred to complement your natural proportions. Not all transferred fat will survive permanently. The fat that successfully establishes itself can provide long-lasting enhancement, although future weight changes can affect your results.

Preparing your bbl

During your consultation, Dr. Susan Yang will evaluate your body proportions, areas of available donor fat, skin quality, health history, and aesthetic goals. Together, you will discuss the areas you would like sculpted as well as the shape and degree of enhancement you hope to achieve.

Dr. Yang will develop a personalized surgical plan outlining the areas for liposuction and your fat transfer. At your preoperative appointment, you will receive detailed instructions on preparing for surgery, medications, postoperative garments, activity restrictions, and your recovery plan.Because protecting the newly transferred fat is an important part of BBL recovery, Dr. Yang and the Bellevue Body Queen team will also review specific instructions regarding sitting, sleeping positions, compression, and postoperative care.

Recovery and Results

A BBL is performed as an outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home once cleared after surgery. Swelling and bruising are expected during the early recovery period, and the shape will continue to change as swelling resolves and the transferred fat settles.

Patients must avoid prolonged direct pressure on the buttocks during the initial healing period and carefully follow Dr. Yang’s individualized postoperative instructions. Most patients gradually return to normal daily activities over several weeks, while final results continue to develop over the following months.
